NORTH COUNTY — The city councils in Vista and San Marcos tackled big issues during their respective meetings on Tuesday.
In Vista, the council approved a $200,000 expansion for the city’s rental assistance program to help those on the brink of homelessness. The strategy has been in place for several years as the city has allocated $1.9 million to help more than 600 residents remain in housing.
The updated initiative, the Vista Housing Assistance Program Category 2, specifically targets those residents who face eviction within 14 days, according to the staff report. Eligible households can receive up to $5,000 in aid to cover rent or utilities for up to three months.
