It’s Election Day — pick your horses
Hundreds of candidates across North County vie for re-election or a first term as ballots are cast to shape the future
NORTH COUNTY — Today is the day to cast ballots for those who haven’t mailed their ballots.
From federal to local offices, North County voters will shape the future of North County and their respective cities, school boards, hospital districts and more. All vote centers, ballot drop boxes and the Registrar’s of Voters office will be open until 8 p.m.
The candidates for City Council in Del Mar and Solana Beach, City Clerk in Oceanside and City Treasurer in Escondido are all running unopposed, so those positions are set. Meanwhile, mayoral seats are up in Oceanside and Encinitas, which elects its mayor every two years, and the potential to flip the balance power of councils in Carlsbad, Encinitas, Escondido, Oceanside, San Marcos and Vista is on the line.
However, this cycle's premier race is for the San Diego County Board of Supervisors’ District 3 seat, which pits incumbent Terra Lawson-Remer against former San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer. The two have engaged in a hard-hitting campaign as homelessness and meeting attendance have emerged as the top issues (among others) with each candidate attacking the other’s records.
However, let’s get a taste of where the other candidates stand, so take part in the poll below featuring the two supervisors’ races with North County ties, local City Council and other citywide races.
Also, follow North County Pipeline tonight on X and Facebook for real-time results. I’ll be updating the local races, along with several tax increase measures, Measure G (the SANDAG tax proposal), state propositions and school bond measures.
Feel free to comment and ask questions on those platforms and I’ll respond as soon as I can, but let’s keep it nice. Tomorrow’s newsletter will be free for all subscribers recapping the election. See you on the other side.
