Marine vet moves to his own beat
After years of struggling, an Oceanside veteran found a new mission by starting his own business and now has plans to grow and scale
OCEANSIDE — A head-down approach in a niche industry has lifted one man’s fortunes after years of struggling to find his way.
Fidencio Reyna III, 40, of Oceanside stumbled into his newfound entrepreneurial spirit by chance after years of bouncing from job to job. Reyna’s winding path came after serving eight years in the U.S. Marine Corps where he was Military Police, but after leaving the service, Reyna struggled to find a purpose or a mission.
Years of pursuing different jobs and moving back and forth from his native Texas finally saw him start his own company, which eventually morphed into Mission Minded: Moving Deliveries & Junk Removal in 2020. He knew he wanted to work for himself, make the decisions, create the vision and build his own business from the ground up.
“Everyone needs something moved,” Reyna said. “I don’t mind using my body. I like using my body to get something accomplished. Sometimes, when the job gets hard, you have to get yourself in gear. It develops character. It’s good, and I like it.”
