Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families. In addition to supporting our local businesses and nonprofits, how about taking a break with your family and supporting our local university and college athletics.

In 2017, California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) completed a three-year transition phase to change their status from NAIA to NCAA Division II.

In the past the men’s and women’s basketball teams would have to travel to Mira Costa College or Escondido for their home games. To meet the criteria of the NCAA, upgrades were needed, which led to their new arena, so home games are truly home games for the Cougars.

Student fees play a large role in the budget of the athletic program, so the students had a say and voted in favor of the move to the NCAA. For them, it was part of the whole university experience.
