CARLSBAD
Oct. 28
Pumpkin time! Check out the pumpkin patch at the Carlsbad Strawberry Fields until Nov. 3. The patch is open daily from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. There is also tractor rides, rabbits and goats, local vendors and a corn maze with a haunted corn maze every Friday and Saturday through October is open from 7-10 p.m.
Candy time! Party like a monster at Legoland this Halloween season as the Brick-or-Treat Monster Party returns bringing family-friendly fun with tons of candy, not-so-scary live shows, and silly monster LEGO characters! Brick-or-Treat Monster Party is included with general admission tickets for event dates.
Oct. 31
Boo Bash! Join the city of Carlsbad for its Haunted Halloween Bash from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Oct. 31 at Pine Avenue Community Park. The event is for ages 6 and up so get ready to trick-or-treat. There will be a haunted house, Halloween crafts and activities, cookie decorating stations, bounce houses and carnival games. Admission is $5 at the door or online.
Nov. 2
Bike safety! Join the Carlsbad Police Department for two bike and e-bike safety classes on Nov. 2. The first class runs from 9-10 a.m., while the second is from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Cole Library, 1250 Carlsbad Village Dr. The classes will discuss safety tips, rules of the road and city-specific e-bike laws. Space is limited and registration is open.
Day of the Dead! Honor loved ones at the Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park for the city’s annual Día de los Muertos celebration on Nov. 2-3. Día de los Muertos is a traditional Mexican holiday celebrated by honoring deceased friends and family. The holiday is observed by building private altars, or ofrendas, using marigolds, personal items and favorite foods of the departed. The free event runs from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. both days.
Nov. 3
Street faire! It’s that time of year for the biggest street faire in San Diego County. Join the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce for its biannual Carlsbad Village Street Faire from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. in the Village. There will be hundreds of vendors, art, music, food, drinks and much more. Free shuttle service is provided at the Shoppes at Carlsbad and a free bike valet at 2965 Roosevelt St.

Curtain’s up! Check out New Village Arts’ holiday production of “Miracle on 34th Street, A Live Muscial Radio Play.” Previews are Nov. 22-29 and opening night is Nov. 30, while the show runs through Dec. 24. Get tickets here.
Holiday market! Check out the Woman's Club of Carlsbad holiday market from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Nov. 16 at 3320 Monroe St. The market offers for unique handmade gifts, decor and food items.
Veteran’s Day! Join the Army and Navy Academy in commemorating and honoring veterans from all branches of the military during our annual Veterans Day Parade and Military Review. The event runs from 11 a.m.-noon at the football field, 2600 Carlsbad Blvd. There will be a flyover, keynote speaker, wreath presentation and the playing of TAPS.
DEL MAR
Oct. 31
Racing returns! Check out the Del Mar Fairgrounds as the Bing Crosby season explodes from the gates from Oct. 31-Dec. 1. Also, one of the most prestigous races of the season, The Breeder’s Cup, runs on Nov. 1-2. Get tickets here.

Fight against breast cancer! Check out The Susan G. Komen 3‑Day kicks-off at the Del Mar Fairgrounds on Nov. 15 with an inspirational opening ceremony where the adrenaline and anticipation of thousands of walkers fills the air. They will begin their 60-mile journey though San Diego’s neighborhoods, walking along the Pacific Coast Highway through Del Mar, Torrey Pines and Mission Bay.
ENCINITAS
Oct. 30
Free concert! Enjoy the music of Dean Ratzman, who plays piano, trumpet, trombone, and sings. He performs Jazz Standards, 60’s Rock and Soul hits, along with some of his original songs. The show is from noon-1 p.m. at the Encinitas Library, 540 Cornish Dr.
Oct. 31
Halloween! Check out the kid-friendly Encinitas Safe Trick-or-Treat 2024 by Encinitas 101 Main Street Association. The event runs from 5:30-8 p.m. along Coast Highway. Downtown businesses and restaurants will stay open late on October 31st to celebrate Halloween! Trick-or-treat at your favorite local shops, enjoy live music in The Lumberyard Courtyard by Bucket Ruckus, and enjoy kids games set up by the 101 Artists Colony.
Nov. 1
Day of the Dead! Join the city of Encinitas to celebrate Día de los Muertos, a cultural heritage and Mexican tradition. This free event is from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at the Encinitas Library featuring live performances, a community ofrenda and much more.
ESCONDIDO
Oct. 31
Trick-or-treat! Join the Escondido Downtown Business Association for its annual “Trick-or-Treat on Grand” from noon-5 p.m. on Oct. 31. There will be free candy, spooky decorations, face painting and kids activities.
Nov. 1
Day of the Dead! Join the California Center for the Arts, Escondido, from 4-9 p.m. on Nov. 1 for its 28th annual Día de los Muertos. The celebration will include live music, performances by Ballet Folklorico and Aztec Dance, food trucks, a vendor market, a Catrina contest, family-friendly crafts, a lowrider car show, a Frida Kahlo museum exhibition, face painting and so much more. The Center will offer free altars to the community for honoring our beloved departed.
Nov. 2
Tamales! Check out the 6th annual Escondido Tamale Festival from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. at Grape Day Park. There will be a beer garden, kids’ zone, tamale contest, Hay Chihuahua dog costume contest, non-stop entertainment on two stages, and an array of vendors. Come taste some of the best tamales around and celebrate Hispanic culture with music, dance, and community spirit. Admission is free.

Veteran’s Day! Join the American Legion Post 149 for its 5th annual Veterans Day Parade and VetFest at 230 E. Park Ave. on Nov. 11 There will be a parade, ceremony, kid’s zone, free lunch for active duty military and much more. The parade starts at 9:30 a.m. and VetFest begins at noon.
Race day! Check out the Kit Carson 5K Turkey Trot, marathon and half-marathon relays and half marathon on Nov. 19. Check-in is from 6:45-7:45 a.m. for the 5K and until 8:30 a.m. for the relays and half marathon. The races start at Kit Carson Park, 3333 Bear Valley Parkway and traverse a 2.62-mile loop. OCEANSIDE
Nov. 2
Pedal the beach! Bike the Coast is an annual family-friendly event with more 2,000 bike enthusiasts and is from 6 a.m.-6 p.m. on Nov. 2. There are several courses, such as 100-mile, 50-mile, 35-mile, 15-mile, and 7-mile, all starting and finishing at the Pier Amphitheater. There will be live entertainment, food vendors, and a beer garden at the finish line.
Surf’s up! Join the California Surf Museum at its 16th annual Gala Fundraiser as it celebrates its 38th anniversary. Since 1986, CSM has been collecting and preserving the surfing history and artifacts of this popular lifestyle sport and culture as well as producing fascinating exhibits and dynamic educational programs. The funds generated from the Gala help the museum continue these efforts. The gala is from 2-8 p.m. at the Cape Rey Hilton, 1 Ponto Road in Carlsbad.

Shakespeare! Check out the Oceanside Public Library, who is partnering with The Old Globe for a free production of the Shakespeare show, “As You Like It.” The show will be held in the Oceanside Public Library Civic Center Library Community Rooms, 330 North Coast Highway, at 2 p.m. on Nov. 9. Interested attendees can register in advance on the Library’s online calendar at oceansidelibrary.org, but attendance is first come, first served.
SAN MARCOS
Nov. 2
Hike! Join the city of San Marcos from 9 a.m.-noon on Nov. 2 and experience the wonder and beauty of this historic region of San Marcos as we hike 6.5 miles of trails around Walnut Grove Park and The Purple Heart Memorial. Hikers will also take in views along Twin Oaks Valley, La Cienega, Mulberry, and Cox Roads. Meet at the south parking lot of Walnut Grove Park, 1950 Sycamore Dr.

Save a life! Join the San Marcos Fire Department as it hosts a community CPR class from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Nov. 9 at the Regional Training Facility, 184 Santar Place. This class will offer CPR and AED training for adult, child and infant. You will get hands on training taught by your San Marcos Fire Department. Upon completion of this class you will receive a two-year certification.
Veteran’s Day! Join the city of San Marcos for its Veteran’s Day ceremony from 11 a.m.-noon at Helen Bougher Memorial Park, 1243 Borden Rd. The city will honor veterans and active duty military.
SOLANA BEACH
Oct. 28
Attention music lovers. Check out the famous BellyUp. This week’s lineup consists of Aimee Mann (today and Oct. 29), Y La Bamba and Kiltro (Oct. 30), Halloween Heat featuring 80’s Heat (Oct. 31) and April and the Funk Junkies and Ripe (Nov. 1), The Fabulous Thunderbirds (Nov. 3).

Bike safe! Check out the city of Solana Beach and San Diego County Bicycle Coalition’s All About E-Bikes Workshop from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Oct. 29 at the La Colonia Community Center, 715 Valley Ave. The free workshop will teach participatns how to throttle, securing bikes, rules of the road and much more. Nov. 2
Holiday boutique! Check out the Solana Beach Civic and Historical Society’s 2024 Holiday Boutique from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at La Colonia Park Community Center, 713 Valley Ave. This annual tradition showcases the many talents of our crafters and is our largest fund raiser of the year. There will be gifts with a large array of children’s items, quilts for all ages, holiday ornaments and décor, planters, wooden bowls, vintage and collectibles, distinctive artwork and more.

Veteran’s Day! Join the the City of Solana Beach and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5431 as they host their annual Veterans Day Ceremony from 11 a.m.-noon on Nov. 11. Highlights of the celebration include The Camp Pendleton Young Marines as Color Guard, “Feathers from Heaven” Doves, the Santa Fe Christian School Band, and a special guest speaker who will address the community.

Nov. 2
Day of the Dead! Check out the celebration, beauty, and culture of Dia de Los Muertos from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at Eternal Hills Park, 1999 S. El Camino Real. There will be Mariachi, Folklorico dancers, crafts, prizes, and much more!

Veteran’s Day! Join the city of Vista for its Salute to Service: Veterans Day Ceremony from 10-11 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, 367 S. Santa Fe Ave. There will be a salute from the City Council, guest speakers and a special presentation to honor veterans.
Farmer’s Markets
The Grand Farmers Market runs from 2:30-7 p.m. every Tuesday on Juniper Street between Grand Avenue and Valley Parkway at Heritage Park. The market has a great selection of produce and meats with a variety of vendors.
The open-air San Marcos Farmer’s Market is year-round and is held every Tuesday from 3-7 p.m. at 251 N. City Dr. off Twin Oaks Valley Road and across from Cal-State San Marcos.
The State Street Farmer’s Market in Carlsbad is every Wednesday from 2:30-6 p.m. on State Street between Carlsbad Village Drive and Grand Avenue. This lively market features amazing produce, organic eats, locally prepared food, live entertainment and an all-around good vibe.
*Note: The State Street Farmer’s Market spring/summer hours are 2:30-7 p.m. from March 10 through Nov. 3.
The Oceanside Farmer’s Market is held every Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the Sunset Market every Thursday from 5-9 p.m. at the corner of Pier View Way and Coast Highway. The popular market provides a delicious display of local produce, meats, flowers and nursery items!
The Vista Farmer’s Market is the county’s longest running market and is every Saturday from 8 a.m.-noon, rain or shine at the San Diego County Courthouse, 345 S. Melrose Dr.
The Cardiff Farmer’s Market at Mira Costa College, 3333 Manchester Ave., runs every Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and features numerous international food vendors, food and plant vendors plus much more!
The Del Mar Farmer's Market is the second oldest in the region and is every Saturday from noon–4 p.m. on the lower outdoor parking lot at the Del Mar Civic Center, 1050 Camino Del Mar. This certified, non-profit market brings to the community a variety of fresh local produce, seafood, fresh coffee, locally prepared international specialty foods to enjoy on-site or to take home, artisan creations, and live music.
The Leucadia Farmer’s Market is every Sunday (except Easter) from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Paul Ecke Central School, 185 Union St. in Encinitas. The market has a great collection of more than 30 certified growers, 10 certified organic and more than 70 total vendors.
The Bonsall Farmer’s Market and Open Air Faire runs from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. every Sunday at Bonsall Elementary School, 31555 Old River Rd. The market highlights fresh garden-to-table locally grown fruits, veggies, hormone-free meat, local artisan cheese and much more.
The Solana Beach Farmer’s Market runs every Sunday from noon-4 p.m. (except on Easter, July 4, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day) The market features organic farmers with nature's finest produce to skilled artisans crafting one-of-a-kind creations, our vendor lineup is a celebration of local talent and creativity.
