CARLSBAD
June 14
Showtime! Join the New Village Arts for their production of the groundbreaking musical “The Color Purple.” Previews begin on June 14 and opening night is June 22 and runs until July 14. Opening night will sell out quickly, so make sure to buy your tickets now.
June 16
Avian Adventure Day! Join the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation for Avian Adventure Day on June 16 at 8 a.m. Meet at the Discovery Center for a lagoon walk with birding experts to spot native birds. Afterward, return to the center for presentations on raptors like the barn owl and peregrine falcon. Experience the thrill as Hawkeye, a Harris's hawk, performs flying drills. There will be crafts such as making your own birdhouse.
DEL MAR
June 12
Back to the Past! Get ready as The San Diego County Fair returns from June 12-July 7 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd. This year’s theme is “Let’s go Retro!” with attractions from the 1950s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and more. The fair includes a catwalk, a musical time warp, a video game arcade, diner delights plus all the rides one can handle. The concert schedule is as follows: Kolohe Kai (June 12), Old Dominion (June 13), TLC (June 14), Pink Floyd Laser Spectacular (June 15) and Pepe Aguilar (June 16).
ENCINITAS
June 15
Bike safe! Join the city of Encinitas and the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition for a bike and e-bike safety and skills class at the Encinitas Community Center, 1140 Oakcrest Park Drive. The class runs from 9 a.m.-noon and includes a lecture, skills drills and guided road ride. For those under 12, a parent is required.
Pickleball Pop-Up! Join the Cardiff Farmers Market and Volo Sports for their first Pickleball Pop-Up. Anyone can join, whether you are a seasoned player or new to the game! The pop up is free and will be on June 15 at the Cardiff Farmers Market from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
More Pickleball! Join the Vista Community Clinic from 5-8 p.m. at the Bobby Riggs Racket and Paddle Club, 875 Santa Fe Dr., for the 2024 Dinks and Drinks tournament. This event is a fundraiser for VCC and will have divisions for novice and competitive players. Registration is open.
ESCONDIDO
June 14
Good morning! Wake Up Escondido is making a comeback. The event runs from 8-9:30 a.m. and gives you a chance to mix, mingle and network with chamber members and other business leaders. Your business will have the opportunity to highlight its achievements and services to a group of gathered professionals from various industries. Non members register here.
Cruise the street! Join the city of Escondido as “Cruisn’ on Grand” returns to downtown. Check out American-made pre-1974 classic, custom, vintage, muscle, and hot rod cars cruising Grand Avenue. Street closures will take place on the side streets Maple St., Broadway, Kalmia, and North Juniper) from Second Ave. to Valley Parkway. The event runs every Friday throughout the summer. The event runs from 4-9 p.m.
OCEANSIDE
June 10
Surf’s up! Sign ups are now available for the Surfin Fire Surf Camp summer sessions. Located under the Oceanside Pier, Surfin Fire offers multiple different levels of classes for different age levels and skill sets. They offer private, semi-private, and group classes. The next camp is from June 3-7 followed by June 10-14, June 17-21 and June 24-28. The camps are five days and begin each Monday and run through Aug. 30.
June 11
Ride the wave! The USA Surfing Championships runs from June 11-15 at the Oceanside Pier. Competition starts at 8 a.m. each day and showcases surfers, stand-up paddle boarders and adaptive divisions.
Cycle power! Watch as cyclists begin one of two journeys across the country in the annual Race Across America (RAAM) and Race Across the West (RAW). RAAM covers more than 3,000 miles from Oceanside to Atlantic City, N.J., while RAW starts in Oceanside and finishes in Durango, Colo. Solo and team RAW riders start June 11, while RAAM solo riders begin on June 11 and the team race starts June 15. The races start at the Oceanside Pier as RAAM starts at noon, while RAW begins at 4:30 p.m.
June 15
Bike safe! Join the Oceanside Police Department for a 90-minute bicycle course starting at 9 a.m. at the OPD headquarters, 3855 Mission Av. The course will cover rules of the road, traffic laws, e-bike safety and more. Register by email at mjparenteau@oceansideca.org or call (760) 435-4835.
Concert night! Join the city of Oceanside for its free Concert in the Park at Jim Wood Park (formerly Rancho Del Oro Park) on College Boulevard and Empresa. There will be food trucks, family-friendly activities and more!

America’s birthday! Join the city of Oceanside for the Independence Parade on June 29 to see floats, bands, walking groups, cool cars, and more! The parade will start in front of the 101 Cafe at 10 a.m. and will run north to City Hall!
SAN MARCOS
June 14
Movie night! Join the city of San Marcos as it hosts a free movie in the park, “Wish,” from 6:30-9 p.m. There will be food trucks and popcorn is provided. The movie is at Woodland Park, 671 Woodland Parkway.

Be a ranger! Learn how to be a Junior Ranger will earn a badge through interactive, hands-on activities about local plants and animals, nature, conservation, trail safety, and more! Bring bicycles for a chalk bike course and free bike and helmet checks from Sprockid. The event is from 9 a.m.-noon on June 22 at Jack Pond’s Nature Center, 986 La Moree Rd.
SOLANA BEACH
June 10
Attention music lovers. Check out the famous BellyUp. This week’s lineup consists of The Routine (June 11), Ambrosia (June 12), Mike Gordon (June 13), Atomic Groove (June 14), WITCH (June 14), Wayward Sons (June 15) and Cowboy Junkies (June 16).
June 13
Concerts at the Cove! Partnering with the Belly Up Tavern, the City of Solana beach presents the Concerts at the Cove series, featuring many local musicians performing on the Fletcher Cove stage. Concerts will be held every Thursday night throughout the summer from June 13-Aug. 8, from 6 p.m.-7:45 p.m. This week features Fleetwood MAX. The event is free and open to the public.
VISTA
June 10
Looking for a summer camp? Join the Vista Boys and Girls Club for their summer camps! Camp times are 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday from June 10-Aug. 13 (closed on July 4). The camp includes programs, activities, field trips and much more.
June 11
Campers! Check out the Young Pioneers summer camp Rainbow Harvest: Exploring Nature’s Palette from 8:30-11:30 a.m. at the Sand n Straw Community Farm, 629 Mar Vista Dr. The camp runs from June 11-14 for ages 3-10 and is $330 per camper. June 15
Go for a steam! Check out the Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum’s Antique Engine & Tractor Show from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The show features dozens of antique engines and tractors, each with their own unique story. Visitors can browse through the various exhibitions, meet the owners, and enjoy live demonstrations of some of the engines and tractors in action! There will also be tractor driving, Milking demonstrations, petting zoo, hayrides, vendors, and much more.
Farmer’s Markets
The Grand Farmers Market runs from 2:30-7 p.m. every Tuesday on Juniper Street between Grand Avenue and Valley Parkway at Heritage Park. The market has a great selection of produce and meats with a variety of vendors.
The open-air San Marcos Farmer’s Market is year-round and is held every Tuesday from 3-7 p.m. at 251 N. City Dr. off Twin Oaks Valley Road and across from Cal-State San Marcos.
The State Street Farmer’s Market in Carlsbad is every Wednesday from 2:30-6 p.m. on State Street between Carlsbad Village Drive and Grand Avenue. This lively market features amazing produce, organic eats, locally prepared food, live entertainment and an all-around good vibe.
*Note: The State Street Farmer’s Market spring/summer hours are 2:30-7 p.m. from March 10 through Nov. 3.
The Oceanside Farmer’s Market is held every Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the Sunset Market every Thursday from 5-9 p.m. at the corner of Pier View Way and Coast Highway. The popular market provides a delicious display of local produce, meats, flowers and nursery items!
The Vista Farmer’s Market is the county’s longest running market and is every Saturday from 8 a.m.-noon, rain or shine at the San Diego County Courthouse, 345 S. Melrose Dr.
The Cardiff Farmer’s Market at Mira Costa College, 3333 Manchester Ave., runs every Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and features numerous international food vendors, food and plant vendors plus much more!
The Del Mar Farmer's Market is the second oldest in the region and is every Saturday from noon–4 p.m. on the lower outdoor parking lot at the Del Mar Civic Center, 1050 Camino Del Mar. This certified, non-profit market brings to the community a variety of fresh local produce, seafood, fresh coffee, locally prepared international specialty foods to enjoy on-site or to take home, artisan creations, and live music.
The Leucadia Farmer’s Market is every Sunday (except Easter) from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Paul Ecke Central School, 185 Union St. in Encinitas. The market has a great collection of more than 30 certified growers, 10 certified organic and more than 70 total vendors.
The Bonsall Farmer’s Market and Open Air Faire runs from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. every Sunday at Bonsall Elementary School, 31555 Old River Rd. The market highlights fresh garden-to-table locally grown fruits, veggies, hormone-free meat, local artisan cheese and much more.
The Solana Beach Farmer’s Market runs every Sunday from noon-4 p.m. (except on Easter, July 4, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day) The market features organic farmers with nature's finest produce to skilled artisans crafting one-of-a-kind creations, our vendor lineup is a celebration of local talent and creativity.
