OCEANSIDE — A new future has arrived and was christened last week with the appearance of a legend followed by the “official” grand opening.
Frontwave Arena is Oceanside’s latest jewel as it gives the city, and region, a state-of-the-art 7,500-seat facility, professional basketball and soccer, concerts and more. The arena hosted seven-time gold medalist Simone Biles and her Gold Over America Tour (GOAT) on Sept. 16-17 followed by the official ribbon cutting on Thursday.
The calendar, meanwhile, is packed as the arena hosts its first concert on Oct. 5 with Cake as the headliner, followed by the much-anticipated NBA preseason game between the Los Angeles Clippers, with former San Diego State star Kawhi Leonard, and Brooklyn Nets on Oct. 8. Rounding out the October schedule is Rocktoberfest on Oct. 12, the Association of Volleyball Professionals league week on Oct. 19-20 and then Monsters of Hip-hop featuring Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Too Short and others on Oct. 26.
